Abstract

Digital assets and decentralized financial systems have developed at a fast pace, rising the need for effective, clear and scalable cross-border payment systems. Existing international payment methods tend to have a host of drawbacks, such as high transaction fees, slow settlement times, lack of transparency, and the fact that they rely on a large number of intermediaries, leading to inefficiencies in the cross-border financial transactions process. This research aims to tackle these issues by designing a scalable Decentralized FinanceĀ
(DeFi) infrastructure that enables real-time digital asset settlements and cross-border payments. The framework aims to combine smart contract capabilities with decentralized liquidity models, validator consensus with regulatory compliance measures, thereby creating a robust and efficient solution for inter-jurisdictional financial transactions. The methodology encompasses architectural design, smart contract based settlement processes, mathematical performance modelling, security analysis and simulation based evaluation on blockchain enabled platforms. Measures of performance are as follows: transaction throughput, settlement latency, transaction cost, scalability and security resilience. The results show that it can process transactions more efficiently than the traditional crossborder payments systems, shorten settlement time, better scalability, and lower costs and expenses. Moreover, the framework enhances transparency of transactions, diminishes dependency on intermediaries, and encourages regulatory compliance. The proposed design offers a scalable solution that facilitates the settlement of cryptocurrencies in real time, thereby fostering financial inclusion, enhancing payment efficiency, and contributing to the development of blockchain-based financial ecosystems.
