Abstract

The blistering development of digital content distribution platforms has modified the innovation, sharing, and commercialization 
of intellectual property resources. Nonetheless, the rising level of illegal copying, digital piracy, ownership issues and international 
infringement has revealed critical weaknesses in traditional intellectual property safeguarding measures. The concept of 
blockchain technology has become a feasible answer that suggests decentralized, transparent, and tamper-resistant systems 
that can improve the process of content ownership verification, rights management, and licensing. With all these technological 
innovations, there still is a lot of uncertainty in legal and regulatory matters that still permeate the protection and enforcement 
of intellectual property rights in blockchain-based digital content ecosystems. The paper analyzes the legal issues related to the 
protection of intellectual property in content distribution environments that feature blockchain-based protection and assesses 
how well the current legal frameworks are capable of dealing with the new technological changes. The study utilizes a doctrinal 
legal approach that is backed by comparative law of intellectual property rules, blockchain regulatory systems and international 
legal practices. It has suggested a blockchain-driven intellectual property protection system to enhance ownership verification, 
licensing, infringement detection, and regulatory adherence. The results show that blockchain technology unquestionably enhances 
transparency, traceability, copyright safeguarding, and digital rights management and minimizes risks related to the unlicensed 
sharing of content. Nonetheless, there are still difficulties in terms of jurisdiction, the enforceability of smart contracts, legal 
responsibility, and the international regulation of governance. The research highlights that unified legal frameworks, acceptance 
of evidence created by blockchain, and standard governance systems can be used to aid successful protection of intellectual 
property. The framework proposed supports the enforcement of the legal certainty, increase in the regulatory compliance, and 
secure distribution of the digital content in the decentralized ecosystems.
