Abstract

The emergence of cloud computing technologies has radically changed the landscape of the global digital environment as it 
facilitates the free movement, processing, and storage of information internationally. With organizations becoming highly 
dependent on transnational cloud infrastructures to maintain digital services and business processes, issues surrounding the 
concept of digital sovereignty have grown to become a major subject in legal and policy discourses. Digital sovereignty is the 
ability of states to have control over digital resources, data assets and technological infrastructures within their borders. The 
internationalization of cloud services has produced complicated governance spaces where data can be stored, processed and 
transferred across several nations, and in many cases, organizations are under several juridictions or conflicting legal jurisdictions. 
As a result, governments have attempted to enhance regulative authority on data management, privacy safeguarding, and security 
in the digital age in order to protect the national interests in the digital age.
